Travelling abroad for 20 years had taught David to appreciate life and cycling to its fullest extent.

David Richards

David has always love the bike. From the independence it gave him as a kid, to racing, touring and riding with mates later in life.

David has always loved the romance of cycling and the stories of epic battles on professional cycling’s great battlegrounds of the Dolomites, Alps & the Pyrenees. From the extraordinary efforts of the likes of Merckx, Lemond, Pantani to the modern day racing of ‘throw caution to the wind’ of Van Aert, Pogacar & Roglic. While climbing the same mountains and experiencing the same sensations as the great professional riders.

Viva Le Tour

David has long been a lover of professional cycling and there is no bigger annual sporting event than the Tour de France. It is what drew David to France over a decade ago, to dance on the pedals of some of Le Tour’s classic Pyrenean climbs. It was on this trip that David’s seeds of love for combining travel and cycling together were sewn and have grown healthily ever since.

There is no better day for David than riding through the French countryside, with a pre-made Jambon e Fromage bagguette (Ham & Cheese Bagguette) tucked into his back pocket, two full bidons, telling tales of professional races past or cracking a joke, with the late July sun on his back. C’est la vie!

Italy Amore!

David has a definite affinity with France and Le Tour, but Italy is where his heart lies and he will always be the first to put his hand up for a tour to Italy. The first time he rode through the jaw dropping landscapes of the Dolomites and Stelvio National Parks, David’s DNA was changed forever. Give David a sunny Spring day on the Sella Ronda or tackling the 48 Switchbacks of Stelvio and he is a happy guide.

Beyond the riding, David loves everything about Italy.

He especially enjoys a good vino and is rather partial to a glass with a hearty meal at the end of a solid days riding on tour. If you want to get a gold star he is partial to a half full glass of Barolo or a Prosecco from the Valdobiadene region.
