Col du Tourmalet paved the way for what we know as the Tour de France. This amazing climb has been crossed 87 times, more than any other mountain in Le Tour’s history and was added in the first Tour de France to tackle the high mountains. It was the second highest pass (2115m) in the Pyrenees

Stelvio Pass is one of the highest paved road passes in Europe, it connects the Italian regions of Lombardy & South Tyrol, while also providing passage into Switzerland. The original winding road (built 1820–25) affords scenic views of nearby glaciers.
